Accreditation :  Acknowledgement with a certificate, delivered by COFRAC for a given activity, which brings the proof of the reliability and neutrality for an organization to carry out this activity.

Certification :  Acknowledgement with a certificate, delivered by an independant and official organization, which brings the proof of the ability of an organization to produce quality service to its clients and to always seek optimization.

Clone :  Vegetative conformant to a vine elected for its irrefutable identity, its phenotypical characters and its sanitary statute (O.I.V.). Contrarily, it will be referred as accessions or introductions when the vines collected and placed in a repository do not fully comply with these criteria (uncertain origin or sanitary statute).

Data Collection :  Experimental plot which objective is to follow the clones coming from prospections or repositories with a view to their eventual accreditation. Set up according to a very precise protocol, it consist of the only clones that passed the sanitary test of Fan Leaf and Leaf Roll.

Clone Repository :  Plot insuring the preservation in a good sanitary and physiological status of the clones coming from prospections clearly identified or not (in this case, it will be referred as accessions) and chosen to represent a variety in its widest diversity.

C.T.P.S. :  The Comité Technique Permanent de la Sélection is a consultative organization of the Ministry in charge of Agriculture. It associates all partners of the industry of varieties and seeds.
Its role : consulting and assistance to the Ministry in charge of Agriculture for the elaboration and execution of the varieties, seeds and plants policies.
The vine section of C.T.P.S. is on charge of processing the proposals for accreditation of new clones proposed by ENTAV and its partners. It also statutes on the evolution of the legislation of varieties planting and orientation given to research.

General Directive :  Normative text validated by the Ministry in charge of Agriculture, the General Food Agency, quality service and veterinary and phytosanitary actions, vegetal protection section protection and national laboratories for the vegetal protection. This text defines the additional requirements for a given type of analysis.

ISO :  International Standards Organisation. It is a world federation of national organizations for standards.

Norme ISO 17025 (2000) :  This document aims to lay down general prescriptions allowing the recognition of the tests or calibrations laboratory like competent and reliable, in order to facilitate its accreditation, to set up confidence between the laboratories and to favour the international exchanges.

Norme ISO 9001 (2000) :  This document specifies the requirement for a system of quality management which can be used by internal organizations or to the end of certification or contractual. It concerns the efficiency of the system of quality management to satisfy customers requirements.

Behavourial Plot:  Experimental plot whose objective is to study certified clones, in a given site, in order to compare their cultural characteristics and the technological and organoleptic abilities of their product, according to the environment and production conditions in the study area. Set up following a rigorous device, it aims at advising growers on the clones to be used.

Demonstration plot:  Plot set up without particular protocol in order to allow the validation of observations realized in other sites or to proceed to simplified tests. The scions mother vines lend themselves completely to this kind of operation.

Quality system:  The whole organisational structure, the responsabilities, procedures, processes and resources to plan, carry out and improve quality.
