Agronomic selection represents, with the sanitary selection,
the other elements of the clonal selection. It is an compulsory
stage, coordinated by ENTAV and achieved by the various regional
partners. They set up and provide the monitoring of the experimental
plots according to specific objectives. These objectives are
double:
- To evaluate the technological potential of the clones before
their possible certification.
- To specify the agronomic and qualitative characteristics
for those which are certified.

Data collection:
Clones from repositories or
test fields are planted and monitored in experimental plots
with a view to their future certification. Only clones which
have passed the sanitary tests for Fan Leaf and Leaf Roll
are introduced following a very strict procedure. |
|
Implantation conditions : Traditional
cultivation zone for the variety, homogeneity, control clones,
maximum number of clones: 20.
Viticultural monitoring : minimum 5 years to evaluate
the viticultural characteristics and select the clones for
vinification purposes.
Vinification and tasting : minimum 3 years, to evaluate
the technological and organoleptic characteristics. |
 |
| Certification by the CTPS
on two conditions : sanitary and qualitative. |
|
Behavourial Plot:
| Certified clones are studied
in experimental plots with a view to compare their cultural
characteristics plus their technological and organoleptic
qualities in relation to their environment (soil, climate,
rootstock...) and the production conditions of a given
site or studied area.
|
|
Implantation conditions : number
of clones limited to 15, block planted, 6 repetitions of
10 plants minimum.
Viticultural monitoring, vinification analysis of the constituent
elements for wine making and wine tasting.
Comparison of clones, establishment of their technological
and organoleptic characteristic, Adaptation according to
the soil and production objectives.
