The objective of the experiment is to verify the true to type
of each variety as well as the sanitary status of the material
propagated within the states of the European Union.
Commercial plants were taken at random by Organizations responsible
for the supervision of viticulture in 7 countries of the European
Union (Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal)
and introduced at ENTAV.
Upon reception, the 129 batches of 25 plants of 12
varieties (Cabernet franc, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Chardonnay,
Grenache noir, Merlot, Pinot blanc, Pinot gris, Pinot noir,
Riesling, Sauvignon, Syrah and Tempranillo) were coded. Together
with ONIVINS, documents (labels…) were inspected and a
technical inspection (sizing...) was carried out.
On each batch, 10 roots were taken and tested by ELISA
and PCR for main viruses. In addition, rootstocks
true to type was verified.
Once hot water treated for security, all batches were planted
in the nursery. During vegetation period, compliance to the
true to type of the varieties will be verified visually and
sanitary tests will also be made for confirmation.
